Tournament Manager is the software that runs the event: the match schedule, the scores and every screen in the room. It runs on a laptop that travels in the tournament's rack bag. Either the tech setup volunteer or the Event Partner starts it.
Set up the event network first.
Start it before the displays
Tournament Manager has to be running before the display Pis are turned on. Each Pi looks for Tournament Manager once, when it starts up. A Pi that starts before Tournament Manager is running has to be restarted afterwards.
How to start it
- Turn on the laptop. It's at the bottom of the rack, and the Computer switch on the power strip powers it.
- Sign in. The Event Partner has the sign-in details.
- Start VEX Tournament Manager.
- Open the tournament file. The tournament is already created, so you only need to open the right file. The Event Partner will tell you which one.
There's very little else to set up in Tournament Manager. If something in it looks wrong, ask the Event Partner rather than changing it.
Next: setting up the display Pis.
