Being ready when you're called

Queue like a pro — the five-second checklist that keeps your team on schedule.

Matches run on a schedule, and the queuing volunteers keep it moving. When they call your team, being ready makes you look like pros — and keeps the whole event on time.

The five-second checklist

When you hear "Teams for Match 14, please come with me," grab:

  • Your robot
  • Your controller
  • The right drivers — check the schedule for your match number ✔

Then stay with your queuer. They'll walk you to the correct field and hand you off to the referee.

The rules at the queue

  • Drivers only past the line. Parents and coaches watch from the stands — that's every VEX event, everywhere.
  • Stay with your group. If you wander off, your match can't start.
  • Power up when asked. The queuer or referee will tell you when.

If something goes wrong

Robot won't turn on? Controller trouble? Tell your queuer immediately — don't try to silently fix it in line. They'll let you step aside and get the right people involved. And if you think a rule or score is wrong, your drivers can ask the referee politely — the referee always makes the final call.

Pro move

Watch the match schedule all day and start getting ready one match early. Teams that are waiting at the queue before they're called never miss a match — and queuers love them.
