Registering your team and entering tournaments

Team registration and event signup run through VEX and RobotEvents — here's the local map.

Two different registrations trip up new coaches: registering your team (once a season, with VEX/Global Robotics) and registering for events (per tournament, on RobotEvents). Both live outside gainingSTEAM — RobotEvents is the system of record for teams and event registration; we run the local events and operations.

Registering (or renewing) your team

Team registration happens in the Team Registration Wizard at events.vex.com. Two paths:

  • Register a new team — for a brand-new team; VEX assigns your team number.
  • Renew a returning team — coming back for another season? Renew instead of re-registering: it keeps your team number, along with its competition history, rankings, and awards.

The complete, authoritative walkthrough is Global Robotics' own guide: Registering a New Team (it covers renewal too). Our Register a Team page is a Nebraska-friendly summary of the same process — and if you get stuck, email us.

Entering a tournament

Registered teams sign up for specific events on RobotEvents — find the event (our calendar links each competition's RobotEvents page), check its capacity, and register your team there.

Deadlines to expect

Local events set their key dates — payment, engineering notebook submission (for remote-notebooks judging), and consent forms. Your event's organizer tracks these in our system and will communicate them to you; put them on your calendar the day you register, and see The engineering notebook for what the notebook deadline means in practice.
