What is VEX IQ robotics?

A one-minute orientation to VEX IQ for grades 3-8, with pointers to the full explainer and the specifics.

VEX IQ is a robotics competition for students in grades 3–8. Teams design, build, and program a robot to take on a game that changes every season — and pick up teamwork, problem-solving, and perseverance along the way.

Younger than third grade? VEX IQ is a big jump for K–2 hands — VEX GO and VEX 123 are built for that age. gainingSTEAM serves K–8 overall, and our student camps take a wider age range than the competitions do, so there's usually somewhere to start. Ask us and we'll point you at what fits.

Want the full introduction? What is VEX IQ? walks through the program properly — what a season looks like, what a robot kit involves, and what it costs to start. This page is just the orientation for the rest of the Help Center.
