What Was Covered
Game and Judging Updates
The REC Foundation released incremental updates to the Next Level game rules and judging criteria each year. This session reviewed those changes so coaches could prepare their teams accurately from day one.
League Play Introduction
One of the highlights of the 2018-19 season was the launch of an Omaha-area League Play program. League play splits a typical tournament into shorter sessions held on multiple days — each session only a few hours long — giving more teams (especially new ones) a lower-pressure competitive experience. Coaches learned about the format and the opportunity to host league play events at their schools.
Season Schedule and Regional Championship
The upcoming tournament schedule was reviewed, including dates and locations for the Regional Championship, which brought together Nebraska and Iowa teams for a combined qualifying event.
Coaches were encouraged to share the meeting details with other coaches in their programs — the goal was to make sure every team had the information they needed for a successful season.
